Our results define a gene expression profile with upregulation of DAM-related genes such as TREM2, TYROBP, APOE, CD33 and MS4A and not of microglia-related homeostatic genes (TMEM119), thus supporting that DAM status plays a key role in the neuroinflammatory changes occurring in the spinal cord of ALS patients. This evidence concerns the gene CD33 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
