A study by Jun et al. of women with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) investigating cervical fluid IL-6 concentration of >350 pg/mL demonstrated a sensitivity of 92% and specificity of 78% to detect MIAC and was associated with higher rates of funisitis, preterm delivery and neonatal morbidity [76]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and preterm premature rupture of the membranes.
