It was shown that the growth and survival of breast cancer cells was impaired upon CYP1A1 knockdown, partly due to the activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway and suppression of the phosphorylation of 70-kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase (P70S6K), extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2 (ERK1/2), and AKT [21].
