EIF2A and cancer: Table 1 shows the characteristics of the group studied. The neighboring non-neoplastic epithelium was used as a control (n = 55). EIF2α is present predominantly in the cytoplasm. Staining intensity is significantly stronger in cancer than in controls (p < 0.0001). Similarly, the total immunostaining score (TIS), which represents the proportion and intensity of stained cells, is significantly higher in tumors than in controls (p < 0.0001), with the median TIS value in cancer being twice that of control (Figure 2A–C).
