Several previous studies have suggested the possible predictive factors for early bleeding after EVL: previous variceal bleeding, peptic esophagitis, low albumin, high D-dimer, presence of ascites, high aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) score, low prothrombin index, number of varices, extent of varices, and number of rubber bands [10–13].
