We previously showed that, in the self-limiting zymosan-induced peritonitis model (5 mg/kg zymosan, i.p.), a reduction in prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) levels with the microsomal PGE2 synthase 1 (mPGES-1) inhibitor compound III (25 mg/kg) selectively, during the resolution phase (Figure 1A), resulted in inefficient resolution of inflammation [26]. This evidence concerns the gene PTGES and peritonitis.
