Interestingly, during the progression from low-grade to high-grade IPMN and then to adenocarcinoma (PN0 PN2), and finally to metastasis, the expression of GCNT3 and related mucins appears to increase concomitantly with expression of Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) markers (N-cadherin and Vimentin) (Additional file 1: Figure S1). This evidence concerns the gene GCNT3 and adenocarcinoma.
