Since NOD1 was one of the most expressed NLRs by ECs and HE in zebrafish and human embryos respectively (Figs. 1d, g; S1), and it can regulate adult HSPC function24, as well as induce NF-kB during classical inflammation, we hypothesized that NOD1 might contribute to HSPC development by driving HE fate. This evidence concerns the gene NOD1 and hereditary elliptocytosis.
