Many second-generation antipsychotic drugs currently available show high affinity to the 5-HT7 receptor and two medications with 5-HT7 antagonist properties, vortioxetine and lurasidone, have been found to enhance cognitive functioning in people with major depressive disorder (MDD) and schizophrenia (Harvey, 2015; McIntyre et al., 2013).
