BCHE and neurodegenerative disease: In an experimental study, Tumen et al. [6] have screened the inhibitory effects of dichloromethane, acetone, ethyl acetate, and methanolic extracts of the leaves and fruits of myrtle for three enzymes including acetylcholinesterase (AChE; EC 3.1.1.7), and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE; EC 3.1.1.8) and tyrosinase (EC 1.14.18.1) which are involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.
