The half-life of tDDX3X-N was only 4 hours, while the half-life of tDDX3X-C was more than 16 hours, and nearly half of tDDX3X-C was still expressed in the cells after 24 hours (Figure 2, H and I), indicating that AEP-specific cleavage of DDX3X at N124 does not simply lead to degradation but may result in unexpected functions of tDDX3X-C in cancer.
