Patients with cardiac injury during ICU stay were older (70 (61–75) vs. 63 (52–69), p < 0.001), had a higher SAPS-2 score (45 (37–65) vs. 33 (24–43), p < 0.001) and had more frequently cardiovascular risk factors, coronary artery disease, chronic cardiac disease, chronic kidney disease and chronic medication by Renin-Angiotensin System Blockers than patients without cardiac injury (Table 1).
