CXCL10 and vitiligo: The autoimmune theory has been reinforced by the following more recent findings13, 14: first, CD8+ T-lymphocytes and the IFNγ axis seem to play a crucial role in inhibiting melanogenesis and inducing melanocyte apoptosis,20 and second chemokines such as CXCL10 may play a role in the progression and maintenance of vitiligo.21
