EIF4E and infection: The inhibition of host translation in TuMV-infected eif4e1KO plants thus appears to be associated with a direct impairment of the translation initiation apparatus resulting from two factors: the unavailability of eIF4F complexes required for protein synthesis during infection and a considerable reduction in the levels of eIFiso4G1 and eIFiso4G2 proteins present in the translation initiation complexes.
