All the patients had parkinsonism symptoms and previous research has suggested both Parkinson’s disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) have lower SERT binding in the hypothalamus (Joling et al. 2019) and thalamus region (Pagano et al. 2017), suggesting our results demonstrate the expected neurodegeneration pattern seen in such diseases. This evidence concerns the gene SLC6A4 and Lewy body dementia.
