Then, we found that prior blocking VEGFR-3 or CCL21 could reduce pulmonary lymphatic drainage (Supplemental Figure 14, A–G) and increase lung wet-to-dry ratios (Supplemental Figure 14H), pulmonary macrophage and neutrophil populations (Supplemental Figure 14I), acute lung injury scores (Supplemental Figure 14, J and K), and ear swelling (Supplemental Figure 14, L and M) in the sepsis mouse model, indicating that prior blocking of VEGFR-3/CCL21 could aggravate sepsis-induced lymphatic dysfunction and inflammation.
