In turn, inflammation activates macrophages infiltration in adipose tissue, liver, and kidneys, stimulating the production of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF‐α), interleukins (such as IL‐6), adipokines (such as leptin and resistin), and C‐reaction protein (CRP), causing insulin resistance and leading to prediabetes, among other metabolic disorders (Boutagy et al., 2016; Zhou et al., 2019). Here, TNF is linked to prediabetes syndrome.
