VEGFA and diabetic macular edema: The use of intravitreal injections (IVIs) of steroidal and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) antagonists has dramatically increased due to the widening spectrum of indications for its use, such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO), and choroidal neovascularization (CNV) related to other diseases.
