It has been reported that NAD+ redox imbalance in the heart exacerbated diabetic cardiomyopathy [10] and nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT), the rate-limiting enzyme in the salvage pathway of NAD+ synthesis, alleviated the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy via decreasing oxidative stress [11]. Here, NAMPT is linked to diabetic cardiomyopathy.
