The markers of tubular dysfunction and damage, like kidney injury molecule (KIM)-1, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), or interleukin (IL)-18, are better indices of early renal injury than serum creatinine, so they may be of added value while diagnosing the severity of AKI in the HSCT population [20,21,22]. Here, IL18 is linked to acute kidney injury.
