Mechanistically, it has been shown that atorvastatin inhibits Akt signaling via the P2X7 receptor in human pancreatic cancer cells, and expression of Akt and the P2rx7 gene is also down-regulated in atorvastatin-fed Ptf1a-Cre; lox-stop-lox-KrasG12D/+ mice [29,30].
