Subsequently, we conducted a Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis on these DEGs, which indicated that the enriched pathways included the phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/Akt) signaling pathway, advanced glycation end product-receptor of advanced glycation end product (AGE-RAGE) signaling pathway in diabetic complications, chemokine signaling pathway and type II diabetes mellitus, etc (Supplementary Fig. 2B). The gene discussed is AGER; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
