MAPT and corticobasal syndrome: Subsequently, numerous studies reported that tau aggregates are primary pathological features of clinically diverse neurodegenerative diseases, which are termed “tauopathies.” These diseases include Alzheimer’s disease, progressive supra nuclear palsy, corticobasal syndrome, frontotemporal dementias, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, defined by pathological tau-positive deposits in the brain (Weingarten et al., 1975b).
