After adjusting for traditional cardiovascular risk factors, ALT, and AST, NAFLD demonstrated a significant correlation with carotid intimal thickening (1.58, 95 % CI 1.04‒2.40; p = 0.034) and non-calcified plaque (1.56, 95 % CI 1.03‒2.37; p = 0.038). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
