Previously, in the work by Silva et al., both membrane fluidity (qualitatively, via generalized polarization of the environment-sensitive fluorescent probe Laurdan), and cell elasticity (via AFM) were assessed for the same pancreatic cancer cells before and after the silencing of Aquaporin-3 (AQP3) and Aquaporin-5 (AQP5) [97]. Here, AQP5 is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
