Elevated levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), IL-6, reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide species, and pro-apoptotic proteins have been found in the substantia nigra, striatum, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with PD [1,2,3]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and Parkinson disease.
