Based on that, we cannot ignore that: (i) first, DV-/ZV+ presented lower platelet count, which might suggest platelet activation; (ii) second, this same serological group presented higher frequency of severe cases and hospitalization; (iii) third, DV-/ZV+ presented higher expression of IL-10 and IL-17A, responsible for the observed platelet activation; and (iv) fourth, thrombocytopenia was a risk predictor for dengue hospitalization (Fig 6).
