While the association between IL-1Ra concentrations and MI was not significant (OR, 0.85; 95%CI: 0.71-1.02; p=0.09), with the adjustment for apolipoprotein B. The two-step mediation analysis indicated that 29% (95%CI: 21% to 37%) and 20% (95%CI: 14% to 27%) of the detrimental effect of serum IL-1Ra on CHD and MI was mediated through apolipoprotein B concentrations, respectively (Figure 4).
