Given the role of Annexin A2 in promoting breast cancer progression in vivo and in patients evidenced by us (33) and several others, coupled with our observation that proteins involved in cell adhesion to the ECM, including fibronectin, are enriched in our list of Annexin A2 binding partners, it is reasonable to hypothesize that the collagen–I regulation of Annexin A2 may influence its role in degradation and remodeling of the ECM. The gene discussed is FN1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
