Elevated expression of proinflammatory genes like s100a9, IL23a, IL1b, and immune checkpoint gene PDCD1/PD1 was reported during oral cancer development in the 4-NQO–induced cancer group in comparison to normal mice, and similar results have also been found in human oral cancer and other cancers (18, 19). The gene discussed is IL23A; the disease is lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
