The IL-6 amplifier induces a massive release of several types of chemokines and growth factors from nonhematopoietic cells in Rheumatoid arthritis and EAE model (Harada et al. 2015), able to attract inflammation-associated immune cells such as T cells, neutrophils, inflammatory monocytes, and macrophages and to promote overgrowth of fibroblasts in affected tissues. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
