TAF1A and Marfan syndrome: Although five of the candidate genes did not include SNPs highly correlated with body mass in small-bodied subspecies endemic to California, four of these genes have previously been associated with BMI, body fat mass, height, or Marfan syndrome in humans (e.g., FBXW2, ZBTB43, TGFBR1, TAF1A;35–40; Supplementary Table 2), whereas ZBTB34 appears to reflect a novel association to mass.
