T2D patients are often treated with anti‐hyperglycemic medications such as metformin, sodium‐glucose transporter‐2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, thiazolidinediones (TZD), glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonists, and dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 (DPP‐4) inhibitors.
