Here, we systematically investigated the susceptibility of gap junction loss-of-function mutants to Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14 infection and identified that the innexin gene inx-14, encoding a heterotypic and heteromeric gap junction subunit, acts in the gonad to suppress intestinal defense through a PMK-1/p38 pathway. This evidence concerns the gene PANX1 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14 infection.
