Direct trauma; certain medications such as statins, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, oral contraceptives/hormone replacement therapy (HRT), diuretics, antiretroviral therapy, and oral hypoglycemic agents; infections with some types of bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi; smoking; and tumors are considered as causes of AP [6]. Other causes including autoimmune diseases such as cystic fibrosis, genetic disorders (pancreas divisum), high blood levels of fats, and obesity can play a role in the disease [1].
