Unexpectedly, we observed that animals treated with post-exposure AR-701, which were the least able to reduce viral RNA or infectious virus in BAL, displayed an increase in CXCL9, CXCL10, which attract activated effector T lymphocytes and NK cells in a process that may help clear the infection and promote wound healing but also have been implicated in increased pathogensis. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL9 and infection.
