Overexpression and activation of TGF-β1 in DCM induces cardiac fibrosis, which can be alleviated by administration of telmisartan, empagliflozin, dapagliflozin, epigallocatechin gallate, or cannabidiol, possibly due to the inhibitory effects on TGF-β signaling (169–174). The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
