Febrile patients with BSI had significantly lower levels of citrulline (15.7 μmol/l (1.3–30.4) vs. 19.4 μmol/l (1.1–61.0), p = 0.0094) and increased levels of CCL20 (70.1 pg/ml (1.3–1797.4) vs. 15.6 pg/ml (1.1–1073.1), p < 0.0001) compared to febrile patients without BSI. Here, CCL20 is linked to bathing suit ichthyosis.
