HELLS and non-small cell lung carcinoma: Previous evidence has indicated that many types of squamous cell carcinoma are sensitive to ferroptosis, and ferroptosis-related genes act as independent prognostic predictors for other subtypes of NSCLC.32, 33For example, Diao et al34identified a set of 16 ferroptosis-related genes (e.g.,CAV1,ATF3,HELLS,PLIN2, andTFRC) to develop a gene signature that could accurately predict the prognosis of LUSC, suggesting that targeting these ferroptosis-related genes may serve as a novel therapeutic alternative for LUSC.
