The Canakinumab Antiinflammatory Thrombosis Outcome Study (CANTOS) in 10,061 patients with previous myocardial infarction and elevated CRP demonstrated that IL1β inhibition with canakinumab was associated with reduced CRP levels and an associated reduction in cardiovascular events, independent of lipids and blood pressure17,41.
