FMR1 and fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome: FXTAS was first described in 2001 [40] with a clinical picture classically represented by intention tremor, cerebellar gait ataxia and parkinsonism, associated with hyperintensity of middle cerebellar peduncles at brain MRI [41] and the premutation of the FMR1 gene (55–200 triplets).
