CALR and Sjogren syndrome: We observed that 14 of 47 (29.8%) patients who underwent minor salivary gland biopsy had a positive result. The benefit of minor salivary gland biopsy outweighs the inherent risk given the useful diagnostic information that can be obtained from the procedure. The results of this study support consideration of routine minor salivary gland biopsy for patients exhibiting Sjögren syndrome symptoms in the absence of anti-SSA antibodies.
