In NSCLC, several molecular targets have been identified, including epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), V‐RAF mouse sarcoma virus oncogene homolog B1 (BRAF), mesenchymal–epithelial transition factor (MET), rearranged in transfection (RET), receptor tyrosine kinase ROS proto‐oncogene 1 (ROS1), Kirsten rat sarcoma virus (KRAS), anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase (NTRK), and phosphoinositide 3‐kinase (PI3K) can change expression as a result of mutation. The gene discussed is BRAF; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
