BCAS2 was first identified as a highly expressed oncogenic gene in breast tumors (Nagasaki et al., 1999; Maass et al., 2002), and was later found to be the core component of CDC5L/Prp19 splicing complex (Grote et al., 2010), which mainly takes part in pre-mRNA splicing (Chan & Cheng, 2005) and DNA damage response (Xu et al., 2015).
