Our results showed a significant increase of T-helper cells (CD4+), this is in agreement with a study conducted on beta-thalassemia major children whereN. sativa enhanced the cell-mediated immunity significantlyvia increasing CD4 counts (from 1319.88 ± 74.56 to 2007.64 ± 90.34 cells μL−1) (P < 0.001).23 This study also reported a significant increase in T-suppressor cells from 727.09 ± 42.81 cells μL−1 to 1145.31 ± 77.58 cells μL−1 afterN. sativa intervention, (P < 0.001). Here, CD4 is linked to beta thalassemia.
