Considering the upregulation of immune cell infiltration, cytokine production, and robust antitumor responses obtained by the combination of ADU-S100 and CpG ODN1826, we observed the downregulation of α-SMA and VIM as the main biomarkers of CAFs and predictive markers of cancer progression (Figures 9, 10), suggesting that immunoadjuvant therapy employing STING and TLR9 agonists in single or combination forms suppresses the tumorigenesis potential of CAFs in the colon carcinoma model. This evidence concerns the gene VIM and cancer.
