In addition to studies of TAF4b in mice, human males who express a truncated version of the TAF4b protein are infertile owing to progressive azoospermia (Ayhan et al., 2014), and single nucleotide polymorphisms in human TAF4b have been linked to nonobstructive azoospermia (Xi et al., 2020).
