Lin’s team (Yang et al., 2023) from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences used scRNA-seq to collect the functional role of apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic polypeptide (APOBEC) mutagenesis in 169 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), and evaluated the characteristics of cancer cell immune infiltration and found that APOBEC mutagenesis can prolong the overall survival of ESCC patients, which may show greast potential in prognostic value for immunotherapy. The gene discussed is APOB; the disease is esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
