Mutations in SDH subunits are linked to familial paraganglioma syndromes, pheochromocytomas, renal cancers and gastrointestinal stromal tumors [19, 20] and reduced expression of subunits B‐ or C‐supported epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer cells [20], aerobic glycolysis in colon cancer cells [21] and the Warburg effect in hepatocellular carcinomas [22].
