Divided into quartiles, elevated plasma adiponectin was also associated with higher hazard ratios for heart failure and atrial fibrillation but not with aortic valve stenosis or myocardial infarction (Figure 3) with a more U-shaped association for heart failure, aortic valve stenosis, and myocardial infarction (Figures 2 and 3).
